Katrina Ramirez, Psy.D.
Dr. Katrina Ramirez has experience providing individual and group therapy to adolescents, college students, and adults. She engages clients in therapy with enthusiasm, warmth, and compassion. Dr. Ramirez specializes in working with individuals who struggle with drug/behavioral addiction(s), bipolar disorder, depression, trauma, and psychosis. Further, she enjoys working with co-occurring disorders and acute mental health symptoms where she utilizes an empathic and strength-focused approach. Creating a safe space for her clients is her utmost priority, recognizing the challenges that are innate to those suffering from mental health disorders.
Dr. Ramirez provides evidence-based practices such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Ramirez has experience working across multiple settings, including schools, the juvenile justice system, community mental health clinics, and inpatient/outpatient psychiatric facilities.
Her philosophy is grounded in a collaborative approach when working with individuals across diverse backgrounds. With her commitment to providing quality care, Dr. Ramirez believes that tailoring treatment to the individual is essential. She considers factors such as age, diagnosis, culture, and the person’s unique situation to guide her therapeutic approach. She also takes into account the family system and the role it plays in the individual’s life. Dr. Ramirez believes that with the proper supports and skills, individuals have the capacity to reach their full potential.
Dr. Ramirez received her Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of San Francisco. Dr. Ramirez was born and raised in California and moved to Illinois to complete her fellowship at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health.
